Lost Songs of Ireland Podcast

Lost Songs of Ireland is a project I started after a year or so of attending singing circles around the country and hearing the same songs over and over. I thought one week I would challenge myself and try to find an old songs no one would know to learn off and bring something new and exciting to the next session.
Well after a little researching through the Schools Collection it became clear that there are indeed, thousands of older traditional ballads that have been lost to memory and are no longer sung or shared.
Over the months I collected more and more little poems, songs and ballads from various sources from local museums to old newspapers and decided I would record some of these songs and tell their stories and Lost Songs of Ireland Podcast was born.
I try, and often fail, to upload an episode each month loosely based on a certain topic with several reconstructed ballads included in each. Each episode is its own mix of music, song, history and folklore blended together is the Irish storytelling style.
